Puppy Curriculum
AKC Australian Shepherd Dog Breeder Activities
We follow Empowered Breeders Curriculum with our puppies and recommend their puppy book: Raising the Empowered Puppy

At about two and half weeks puppies ears start to open and we begin playing soft music for them.  As they grow we introduce more and more sounds. Sound desensitization-including specific noises which traditionally cause anxiety.  Early exposure to thunder, gunshot and fireworks, so that the puppy is comfortable with these noises, will mean less stress on the dog and less worry for the owner.

Each puppy will go through ENS and ESI Protocols.
Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS), involves applying gentle stressors to a very young animal for short periods of time, is thought to improve their stress responses later in life.
Early scent introduction (ESI) is a training program for puppies designed to enhance their ability to identify, and react to, specific scents.

We socialize puppies with all ages of people and genders.  As early as three weeks of age, puppies may begin to approach a person who is passively observing them, we encourages a positive experience with people – adults and children — this will help shape the puppy’s adult behavior.

All puppies in our care are exposed to horses, cats, mini pigs, older dogs both large and small. These early experiences help their confidence in meeting new friends later in life.

Abby, our pot belly pig love to help socializing all the pups.

We provide lots of different play structures for the puppies to climb on and under. It very good for developing problem solving skills.

We begin exposing them to wearing their harnesses and walking on a leash. We find starting them on this early makes it much less stressful for them later.

The pups will get to go a few car rides, not only to the vet appointments but around the block a few times and maybe a trip to Starbuck. This help prepare them for their journeys later on in life as well.
